Legends of the Hunt

Legends of the Hunt
24 x 36 Acrylic on Canvas
I had a jr high english teacher named Dora Coble.  She was up in age, and would sometimes tell stories that her father told her of his life. In later years, I found out that he was no ordinary man,  he was Billy Dixon, buffalo hunter, and well known for the battles of Adobe Walls and the Buffalo Wallow. This painting is based on one of those stories she told, when a bull charged one of the hunters. He oly had time to fire with his pistol, no match for the buffalo's thick skull. Needless to say, the buffalo, horse, and hunter all met an early end.

The Old Oak in a Pinon Pine Frame

The Western mile or so of the Oklahoma Panhandle has Pinon Pines, normally associated with New Mexico and Colorado. I take dead trees and split them for rustic frames.

By the Creek

By the Creek
16 x 20  Acrylic on Canvas
I really like the mixed colors of early fall.
In this painting, I worked on glazing techniques and finished it with a satin varnish.

Enchanted Forest

Enchanted Forest
9 x 12  Watercolor on Paper
I really like working in watercolor, but I usually do it just to relax and take a break.  This is just something I conjured up in my head.
